Common questions

How Fast We Get to You

Do you work weekends?

Genuine emergencies get answered on weekends too, and someone's always on the other end for those. Anything routine waits for the working week, but either way you get a straight answer, not a runaround.

How fast can you get here?

That comes down to two things: how urgent it is, and where the queue sits that day. A genuine emergency gets our fastest safe response, and for anything routine, you'll hear exactly where you stand the moment you ring.

How soon can you fit me in?

Most non-urgent jobs get booked in within the week, and it's often same or next day depending on what's already on the board. We can't lock in a slot until we know the scope of the job.

What happens after I call?

A real local picks up, not a call centre. From there we run through a handful of quick questions about the job, walk you through likely timing, and lock in a booking with the price written down before we lift a tool.

Common questions

Pricing, Straight Up

Is the quote really free?

Yes, we'll send someone out to inspect the job and put together a full written breakdown before any tools come out, and that visit costs nothing and commits you to nothing. There's no call-out fee just for quoting.

How do I pay?

Payment happens once the job's done and you're happy with it, matched to the price we agreed upfront. We accept the standard electronic payment methods, and the invoice always mirrors the quote to the dollar.

Do prices change once you start?

No, not for the job we quoted you. Should we uncover anything unforeseen behind a wall or inside the switchboard, work pauses there and then, we talk you through it, and you get a fresh price to approve before we carry on.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Not for a quote. We come out, assess the job and give you a written quote at no charge, and if you accept it that's exactly what you pay.

Common questions

The Narrabeen Questions

Do you know Narrabeen's housing stock?

Very well. A lot of the housing here dates to the mid-century years near the lagoon and beach, fibro and brick cottages renovated, replaced or extended over time, alongside newer brick-veneer homes and more units popping up along the main road.

What suburbs do you service?

Narrabeen is home turf, covering the run from the lagoon foreshore reserves, Berry Reserve and Bilarong Reserve included, out to the beach. We're also regularly in Collaroy, Dee Why, Cromer, Brookvale and Narraweena.

Can you handle new builds and renovations here?

Yes, both. A good share of the work here is renovation, since many of the original postwar homes have been updated, extended or replaced, and we also wire new builds and the low-rise units going up along Pittwater Road to current standard.

Why do Narrabeen's older homes need switchboard upgrades?

Plenty of the postwar and 1960s-70s cottages nearer the water still run on ceramic fuse switchboards, without the safety switches modern circuits need. Add the salt-laden coastal air out here, which corrodes connections and terminals faster than inland suburbs, and an upgrade stops being optional.

Common questions

The Legal Stuff, Made Simple

What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?

A safety switch (RCD) monitors the circuit constantly and trips the power almost instantly the moment it detects current escaping where it shouldn't, including through someone's body. AS/NZS 3000 requires one on every circuit in a modern home, and if yours is missing one, we can fit it during any switchboard visit.

What is AS/NZS 3000?

AS/NZS 3000 is the wiring standard shared by Australia and New Zealand, setting out how circuits, switchboards and safety gear must be installed. Every job we do meets it, no exceptions.

What is a Certificate of Compliance and do I get one?

It's the official paperwork confirming electrical work meets the wiring standard and was done by a licensed electrician, lodged with NSW Fair Trading on notifiable work. We send you a copy once it's lodged, handy to have on file if you sell or insure the place later.

Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?

No, NSW law reserves electrical work for a licensed electrician, and the DIY carve-outs are narrow, none of them stretching to switchboards, wiring or fixed installations. Step outside them and you're looking at a legal problem plus a voided home insurance policy.
